Dubai050.jpgDubai, 9 March 2006: SatLabs 1st Middle East Symposium generated important and essential feedback from more than 50 key players in the Middle East region. Presentations available online.

Participants represented satcom Service Providers, Infrastructure Operators, Satellite Operators and System and Equipment Vendors amongst others.

The main purpose of the Symposium was to discuss market and technological trends and the advantages and possibilities offered by the DVB-RCS standard.

The main conclusions to be drawn from the Symposium were:

  • DVB-RCS, as an open standard, is essential in bringing competitive satcom services to the Middle East,
  • Interoperability is crucial in stimulating the deployment of DVB-RCS,
  • The SatLabs Qualification Programme is appreciated as the foundation for DVB-RCS interoperability,
  • The market would like to see interoperability demonstrated in operational networks,
  • Users of DVB-RCS technology would like to see the timely implementation of additional levels of interoperability.
