New and Pre-Existing Customers Expand Their SatLabs Compliant
DVB-RCS Networks
| IRVINE, Calif.-Sept. 7, 2006--Completing its first quarter
of operation following the acquisition of the DVB-RCS business of Nera,
STM today announced the delivery of over 1500 new SatLabs compliant SatLink
terminals. |
The terminals have been delivered to a number of customers
and service providers throughout the world. Due to the versatility of the
SatLink platform, end-users are able to enjoy a wide range of applications
ranging from converged private network data and voice/video services to
high-bandwidth multicast streaming and broadband networking using the SatLink
network solution.
Bjorn Platou, General Manager of STM Norway, said, "We
are delighted with the take up rates in our products, which demonstrate
our customers' strong endorsement of STM and the performance and value
proposition offered by our SatLink DVB-RCS compliant system."
STM Norway AS was established in May 2006 with the mandate
to enhance the SatLink product family and engage in an active development
program to expand the SatLink product platform and its features and functions,
using its advanced software-based radio and modem technology. The new subsidiary
is housed in a standalone building in the Lysaker suburb of the Oslo metro
area, which houses many of the software and hi-tech companies in the region.
The new facility is equipped with complete engineering lab equipment for
product development and certification testing.
STM's SatLink product family is based on DVB-RCS, the only
truly open VSAT world standard. The system is known for its versatility
and performance, allowing users to enjoy the full range of voice and data
applications, while at the same time providing the highest levels of bandwidth
efficiency. Its scalable architecture means the SatLink platform can grow
incrementally, making it an ideal choice for both small and large networks.
