SatLabs established as EEIG
eeig_1.jpg28 Apr 2005: The SatLabs Group has been established as an independent legal entity in the form of a European Economic Interest Group (EEIG). This legal form has light administration requirements and serves well the objectives of SatLabs as a cooperative association.

The creation of the SatLabs EEIG marks an important milestone in the launch of the SatLabs Qualification and Certification Program. SatLabs will be able to enter into contracts with external entities, such as test laboratories, and license the SatLabs Mark to terminal manufacturers that successfully pass the SatLabs qualification testing.

icon_pdf.gif Articles of Association (pdf, 241 kb) for the EEIG have been registered, and bylaws defining additional members’ rights and obligations are being finalised.

The founding members are Eutelsat, Newtec and SES Astra. Other members are expected to join soon now that the EEIG has been created.

Formal requests to join the EEIG should be addressed to Xavier Lobao, SatLabs Chairman by means of a letter signed by an authorised person within the candidates’ organisation. The procedure to admit new members is defined in the Articles of Association.

A period of co-existence for the current SatLabs Group Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the EEIG has been agreed until the end of 2005 to allow time for current members to join the SatLabs EEIG. At the end of 2005 the SatLabs Group as regulated by the MoU will be dissolved.
Membership to the SatLabs EEIG is a prerequisite for companies to access the SatLabs Qualification and Certification Program.
